How do you know if you have them?

Worker ants are the ones most likely to be seen. Males and females are produced at certain times of the year. The so-called flying ants have wings and are common only in the summer. The workers, about 2-5mm in length, are black/brown in colour. The females and males are larger in body size and are about 6.5 – 10.00 mm for the female and 3.5 – 4.5 mm for the male. Garden ants generally nest outdoors in sandy soils but travel widely in search of food. They become a pest when they enter homes in search of food; they are particularly attracted to sweet substances. Garden ants become a nuisance because of their foraging habits. They walk across unpleasant and dirty areas during their search for food. They are therefore thought of as unacceptable in our homes.

How do we control them?

Our treatment programme consists of two visits. Our technician willcarry out a thorough inspection of your premises prior to any treatment and assess the level and extent of the infestation. He will then talk through the problems you are experiencing and explain what our initial treatment entails.

Black Garden Ants are normally controlled using residual insecticides namely sprays and dusts and Gels. In domestic properties we would normally treat the kitchen and garden areas where the ants may have originally entered the premises.

Once our treatment is complete we will detail our work in an inspection report and leave this with you, our technician will then arrange a convenient time to carry out a follow up visit.

All our treatments come with a 3 month guarantee.

How do you know if you have them?

Bed bugs conceal themselves very well although visible to the human eye. Remain at most times undetected retreating into a range of cracks and crevices in its environment, your abode!

A very good method of gauging if you have bed bugs is applying a very sticky double sided carpet tape on all sides of your bed frame, thereby catching them or even as a temporary measure to help against immediate biting as the host sleeps.

Generally black dots closely bunched together are signs of bed bug faeces.

Surprisingly bed bugs also hide under your carpets.

This Eliminates 100% of the eggs: tested effectiveness of Thermal Heat.

In vitro tests and on site experiments have demonstrated the effectiveness of Thermal Heat Treatments in eliminating bed bug infestations with a one targeted treatment. At the first treatment, the superheated dry steam of Cimex Eradicator is able to eliminate 100% of the eggs and more than 90% of the adult insects. brought to a temperature up to 180° C.

Cockroaches

Close up blattella germanica german cock

Cockroaches are large winged insects ranging from 12-30mm in length with long antennae. Most people in the UK who have an infestation are likely to have German or Oriental species of cockroach.

The Oriental cockroach is dark brown/black and ranges from 17-30mm whilst the more common German cockroach is lighter brown and smaller 12-15mm. German cockroaches are found throughout buildings but show a preference to warm humid areas. They are good climbers, being able to climb vertical glass or tiled surfaces. An infestation of these cockroaches can be quickly established once they have entered the premises. This species is an extremely serious pest in any different types of premises ranging from hospitals to domestic houses.

How do we control them?

Our treatment programme for cockroaches consists of three visits. Our technician will carry out a thorough inspection of your premises prior to any treatment and assess the level and extent of the infestation. He will then talk through the problems you are experiencing and explain what our initial treatment entails. Before a treatment is carried out, it is important to identify the cockroach species. This will provide details of the biology, life cycle and habits of the pest, which can be exploited in the control programme. Once this has been established he will then be able to carry out treatment to the appropriate areas. All our treatments are completely safe for children and animals.

Once our treatment is complete we will detail our work in an inspection report and leave this with you, our technician will then arrange a convenient time to carry out a follow up visit.

Flea's

Flea.png

The cat flea is small at around 2 mm long, reddish brown in colour and is flattened laterally, a feature which enables it to move easily amongst the hair of its vertebrate host.

The most distinctive features of the cat flea are the large jumping legs and the row of black non-sensory spines on the front margin of the head and on the rear of the first thoracic segment. These bristles or combs are a diagnostic feature of the cat flea.

The eyes are apparent as are the antennae, and the mouth-parts, adapted for piercing and sucking, are typically seen projecting downwards from the head.

How do we control them?

Treatment consists of identifying the source of the infestation, ie: the host animal(s), and if appropriate treating it with a suitable veterinary product. Such a treatment should not be carried out by a pest control technician but by the owner of the animal or a veterinarian.

A residual insecticide should then be applied to areas frequented by the animal. Normally this would consist of spraying all areas in the premises as a precaution. Once the first visit is complete our technician would complete a detailed inspection report explaining what he has done and also what is required by you following his/her recommendations.

Our Treatments consist of 2 visits over a 7-10 day period. if you require more information about our treatments, please call or email us.

Once our treatment is complete we will detail our work in an inspection report and leave this with you, our technician will then arrange a convenient time to carry out a follow up visit.

All our treatments come with a 3 month guarantee.

Moths

Moth.png

The clothing moth is a species of Moths from the Tineidae moth family. The caterpillar (larva) of this moth is recognized as a serious pest. It can derive nourishment not only from clothing – in particular wool – and also, like most moth caterpillars, from many other sources.

How do you know if you have them?

The clothes moth is a significant pest, the larvae feeding on a wide variety of material of animal origin such woollens, angora, cashmere and furs. Damage from larval feeding can be severe and the larvae are often difficult detect as they shun the light. Outdoors, adults are on the wing from May to September. Indoors, adults are found all year round.

In domestic properties obvious signs of infestation are damage to clothes and carpets especially around the edges.

Our treatment programme for moths is a Intense Heat Treatment. Our technician will initially talk through the problems you are experiencing and explain what our initial treatment entails. He will then carry out a thorough inspection of your premises prior to any treatment and assess the level and extent of the infestation.

Please note that before any treatment commences the property has to be prepared for treatment and full instructions are giving at the time of booking or click on our treatment page below.

Please see our Heat Treatment page for more details

Wasps

Yellow wasp isolated on a white backgrou

How do we control wasps?

Wasp’s nests can be controlled by applying an insecticidal dust into the entrance of the nest at high pressure. Once this has been carried out the wasps will distribute the dust naturally around the nest, thus killing the queen and the rest of the wasps. This will normally take about twenty four hours. Immediately following the treatment you will notice a lot more wasps returning to the nest site, this is because they are trying to protect the queen which they can no longer do.

Important: As a general rule, you should not attempt to treat wasp’s nests by yourself. It is likely to be difficult and potentially dangerous. On no account should you remove a nest from the roof space. This should be carried out by a professional pest controller. The main hazard is the risk of ‘anaphylactic shock’ which can arise from even a single wasp sting, which may lead to death.
